FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS ABOUT CHIME INSTITUTE’S CASINO NIGHT FUNDRAISER

What is the CHIME Institute?
The CHIME Institute was established by a group of faculty from the College of Education at California State University, Northridge as a private nonprofit corporation in August 1990 to continue the work of a model demonstration project focusing in preschool inclusion funded by the U.S. Department of Education. Its Preschool Inclusion Program was started at that time serving children from 3 to 6 years of age. The CHIME Institute Infant and Toddler Program, established in 1991, serves children from birth through age 3 and their families. As a direct result of the constant urging of parents who were frustrated with the state of inclusion in the local school district, the same group of educators developed the CHIME Charter Elementary School in 2001. Two years later, the CHIME Charter Middle School was born. All four of these programs run under the umbrella of the CHIME Institute, which is a 501c3 non-profit organization, and are tuition free.

What is Casino Night?
Casino Night is one of the CHIME Institute’s most successful and fun fundraising dinner and social event. There will be a delicious dinner, fun Casino game and raffles, a fabulous Silent Auction and a Poker Tournament. This year CHIME is pleased to announce that its 6th Annual Casino Night will be held at the beautiful Woodland Hills Country Club on November 9th, 2012. Childcare for CHIME Families will be available at the Charter School campus. Casino Night benefits ALL CHIME Programs!

What is our goal this year?
CHIME Institute’s goal this year is to raise funds for much needed educational resources and operating support for CHIME Institute’s educational programs during these challenging economic times -- all the children will benefit.

What are the highlights at the event this year?
This year the CHIME Institute is proud to honor CHIME teachers for their hard work and dedication to all the children and mission of the CHIME Institute!

How much do tickets cost?
Ticket prices are $75.00 per person. If you wish to play in the Poker Tournament and have a chance to win prizes, there is an additional charge. Invitations will be available shortly.

Are only CHIME parents invited to attend?
No. We encourage you to purchase tickets for your family, friends, and business associates. Sponsorships are also available to help us underwrite the expenses for the event.

Will there be a silent auction?
Yes. On the evening of Casino Night, there will be a fabulous silent auction featuring a wide variety of items on which to bid. The auction part of the event can only be a success with the participation of every school family! We are looking for donations in all forms.

How can I be a part of this exciting Casino Night?

Celebrating 20 years of CHIME

Welcome friends and supporters of the CHIME Institute!  We are dedicating this site to exciting events and activities supporting the CHIME Institute programs.

On one hand, the budgetary upheaval at the federal, state, and local levels causes great concern to all of us in education and the need to fundraise has never been so important.  On the other hand, as always, we are overwhelmed by the generosity and spirit of our CHIME community:  families and friends. You have volunteered in our classrooms, participated in school activities, and have shared your time and ideas to help raise funds. So much work, organization and collaboration go into everything you do for children, we are forever grateful of your unending support.

In moving forward, a quote from Margaret Mead seems to sum up the CHIME Institute’s history:  “A small group of thoughtful people could change the world. Indeed, it's the only thing that ever has”.
